Privacy Policy
Last updated: 02/08/2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information DockSpare ("we", "us") collects when you use the Platform, how it is used, and the choices available to you. It applies to Yacht Users, Suppliers, and visitors browsing without an account.
2. Information We Collect
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account information | Name, email, password, role (Yacht or Supplier), onboard role |
| Vessel information | Vessel name, home port, flag registry, IMO number |
| Supplier information | Company name, categories, service areas, contact details |
| Transaction data | Orders, RFQs, quotes, prices, delivery instructions, invoices |
| Communications | In-app chat messages between a Yacht User and a Supplier on an order |
| Content you upload | Product photos, official offer/quote documents, reviews |
| Preferences | Theme setting, favorited suppliers/products |
3. How & Where Your Data Is Stored
- Your data is tied to your account, not to a specific browser or device — signing in from a different browser or device gives you access to the same data.
- Passwords are never stored in plain text; authentication is handled by Supabase's Auth service using industry-standard hashing.
- Deleting your browser's local site data does not delete your account or its data — see Section 7 for how to actually request deletion.
4. How We Use It
- To operate core features: authenticating you, matching Yacht Users with relevant Suppliers, and processing Orders and RFQs;
- To personalize your experience, such as recommending suppliers relevant to your onboard role;
- To communicate with you about your account, orders, or verification status;
- To maintain the security and integrity of the Platform;
- To comply with legal obligations, where applicable.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Sharing Between Users
DockSpare is a marketplace, so some information is necessarily shared between the two parties to a transaction in order for it to be fulfilled. For example, when you place an Order or send an RFQ, the Supplier can see your vessel name, delivery location, delivery contact details, and any notes you provide. Likewise, a Supplier's business name, port, and contact details are visible to Yacht Users browsing or transacting with them.
We do not share your information with unrelated third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
DockSpare uses browser local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to keep you signed in between visits and remember your theme preference. Your account, order, and message data itself is not stored here — see Section 3 — this is limited to session and display-preference information. This is strictly necessary for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled while continuing to use the service.
7. Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time from Edit Profile. This flags your account for review; an administrator archives it once any open Orders are resolved. Archived accounts can no longer sign in.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Most of these can be exercised directly in the app — editing your profile, downloading a full export of your data (Edit Profile → Your Data), or requesting account deletion. For anything else, contact us using the details below.
9. Children's Privacy
DockSpare is a business-to-business platform intended for use by adults acting in a professional capacity. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Security
We aim to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. Given the current architecture described in Section 3, you are responsible for the security of the device and browser profile your account data is stored on — for example, not leaving your account signed in on a shared computer.
11. International Transfers
DockSpare connects vessels and suppliers across multiple countries and ports. Because information you share may be visible to a counterparty located in a different country than you, treat any information you provide as potentially crossing borders as part of normal marketplace use.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly as the Platform's data architecture evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above and provide additional notice for material changes.
